Travis McMichael Drops Federal Hate Crime Murder Charge Against Ahmaud Arbery

According to the latest developments, Travis McMichael will face a second trial in connection with the murder of Ahmaud Arbery after retracting his guilty plea on the hate crime charge he was charged with in connection with the murder.

According to the Associated Press, Travis McMichael retracted his guilty plea for the hate crime allegation on Friday, which means he will face trial for Ahmaud’s murder a second time. After a U.S. District Court judge rejected the conditions of a plea agreement that had been negotiated between defense attorneys and prosecutors, he withdrew his guilty plea in the federal case. He had previously planned to plead guilty in the federal case.

As previously reported, prosecutors filed court documents on Monday requesting that a judge accede to the terms of the plea agreement.
