Following the conviction of Derek Chauvin in the death of George Floyd, Minneapolis police have found themselves in the news once more, this time for the murder of Amir Locke, a 22-year-old Black man in the city.

Locke was awakened by gunfire in the early hours of Wednesday morning as officers entered an apartment building on a no-knock warrant, according to police. The film was made public on Friday by the authorities.

Body cam footage shows a cop inserting a key into the lock of the apartment building where Locke was fatally shot at the start of the video, which is available online. As they charge inside the building, pistols drawn and crying, “Police! Police!” “Search warrant!,” Locke can be seen jumping up from the couch and pulling out a revolver, according to reports. After a few seconds, he was fatally shot.

According to CNN, Locke’s name was not on any search warrants before he was allowed to enter the building. His lawyer also asserted that his gun had been officially registered with the government.
